Kansgrass is a coarse, fibrous grass grown along Bangladesh's riverbanks and floodplains, traditionally used for baskets and mats before finding its way onto the wall. Each round plate in our wall decor collection is hand-coiled and woven by women artisans, so the surface carries a raised, three-dimensional texture that a printed or machine-made wall hanging can't reproduce. No two plates are ever perfectly identical, since every coil is shaped by hand.
Every set groups five round plates in graduated sizes, from about 9.8 inches up to 15 inches across, so they can be arranged as a cluster rather than hung in a single flat row. Axiora and Octara use a bold, symmetric motif (a four-point star and an eightfold rosette) in black on natural kansgrass, while Tessara's pinwheel and Celestara's teal-and-brown colourway offer a softer look. Florastra takes the collection in a more botanical direction with a floral-style weave. Arcora stands apart from the rest: its multicolour pattern isn't dye at all, it's recycled cotton sari cloth woven directly into the kansgrass base, so every set carries its own one-of-a-kind combination of colour.
A cluster of five plates works best as a single focal point rather than scattered around a room: above a sofa or bed headboard, rising up a stairwell, or filling the blank wall of a sunlit entryway. Grouping them in a loose, asymmetric arrangement, rather than a strict grid, tends to suit the organic, hand-woven texture better than a perfectly even layout.
Wipe the plates with a dry cloth only and keep them away from damp areas like bathrooms or covered outdoor spaces. On Arcora, this matters even more: because its colour comes from recycled sari fabric rather than dye fixed into the fibre, a damp cloth can transfer colour, so a dry cloth is the only safe option. None of these pieces should be washed, bleached, tumble dried, ironed or dry cleaned.
Is kansgrass wall decor durable? Yes, with normal indoor use and dry-cloth cleaning, a kansgrass plate holds its shape and colour for years; it's moisture, not everyday handling, that shortens its life.
Can I hang wall decor outdoors or in a bathroom? We don't recommend it. Kansgrass and any woven-in fabric pattern are moisture-sensitive, so these plates are designed for dry indoor rooms only.
How do I clean woven wall decor? A dry, soft cloth to remove dust is all it needs. Avoid water, cleaning sprays, or a vacuum brush attachment on the surface.
